Alex Lopez heads to MacDuffie

Kerem Kanter and the MacDuffie School (Mass.) added a post grad to next year's backcourt.
After four years High School of Commerce (Mass.) varsity, scoring over 1,000 points and leading his team to the regional final, Alex Lopez has chosen to spend an extra year at the Granby prep school.
The Springfield native shared the Lavohich Award (given to Western Mass. top player) with Springfield Central's Tyrell Springer. Springer has since committed to Jacksonville (Tex.). Lopez averaged 22 points per game for Commerce, including 32 points in the Western Mass. championship game in a loss to Central. The Red Raider point guard was also named to ESPNBoston.com Best of the Rest team.
MacDuffie, which moved to Granby from Springfield, this past fall, MacDuffie fell 64-57 to Hoosac School in the NEPSAC Class D title game in 2011-2012.
