Putnam Science 2013 point guard Dayshon Smith has become a serious prospect in recent months. The 6-foot-2 Smith had a breakout summer, seeing his stock rise considerably after the prep school season.
After visiting Syracuse, Quinnipiac, and Fairfield previously, Smith is ready for a second round of visits, starting with Tuesday's unofficial at Providence and Saturday's unofficial at Rhode Island.
"I'm looking to build relationships with coaches and teams and move on from there," said Smith, Monday night. "My summer went well. I picked up some good schools."
Smith also stated that he plans to visit Dayton, Illinois, Drexel, and UMass in the future, although he has not set a date for any of those schools. All four of those schools, like URI, have offered Smith.
The senior said he has not list of his top teams or any favorites, as far as recruiting goes, Smith's options are "wide open."
The Putnam Science guard holds other offers from Richmond, Robert Morris, Witchita State, Towson, Fordham, and Duquesne. While schools like Villanova, Pittsburgh, Indiana, St. John's and N.C. State have all expressed interest.
