Ron Patterson commits to Syracuse

Brewster Academy 2013 guard Ron Patterson, one of the more sought after New England guards, is off the boards as he has committed to Syracuse following an official visit to the campus this weekend.

The news of Patterson's commitment came Saturday evening, with the Post-Standard first reporting Patterson's decision.

By adding the 6-foot-2 Patterson, Syracuse has now secured a talented backcourt heading into next season, along with point guard Tyler Ennis (St. Benedict's/Brampton, ON), who committed over the summer. Patterson will add another strong, athletic guard on the perimeter for Cuse.

Small forward B.J. Johnson (Lower Merion/Ardmore, PA) and center Chinonso Obokoh (Bishop Kearney/Rochester, NY) have also pledged to the Orange.

The last few months have been up-and-down for the Brewster guard. Over the summer, Patterson was slated to be part of a top-recruiting class heading to Indiana. Although being cleared by the NCAA, the Indiana native didn't meet IU standards. Patterson elected to go prep to Brewster and August and quickly saw strong interest from new teams.

Xavier, SMU, Kansas State, Florida State, Villanova, Marquette, and Providence all showed interest in Patterson when he reopened his recruitment.
