Brewster Academy 2013 guard Ron Patterson will bring a teammate along with him, as the 6-foot-2 guard announced that 2014 power forward Chris McCullough will also join the Orange.
Patterson, who committed to Syracuse on Saturday during an official visit, announced McCullough's decision on his Twitter account. McCullough followed with a tweet from his own accout.
The 6-foot-10 McCullough has great upside and one of the more skill bigs in the Class of 2014. McCullough, who held offers from UConn, Providence Louisville, Indiana, Kansas, Memphis, St. John's, UCLA, and West Virginia, was also recruited by fellow Cuse commit, Tyler Ennis, a 2013 point guard from St. Benedict's.
Saturday, the Orange solidified a backcourt with Ennis and Patterson, but the McCullough commit is more important, with previous rumors of a package deal. Fellow 2014 prospect, shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead (Abraham Lincoln/Brooklyn, NY), has been linked together with McCullough's recruitment, with many believing both will end up at the same school.
“We talked about it twice already, me, Jermaine [Lawrence] and Isaiah [Whitehead]. We said it would be a good fit for all three of us,” McCullough told SNY.tv's Adam Zagoria over the summer.
McCullough, considered the top junior in New England, is already off the boards along with many of his Bobcat teammates. Patterson, Kyle Washington (NC State), John Edwards (New Hampshire), and Elijah Macon (West Virginia) have all previously committed.
The New York native is only one of a few top 2014 prospects to already commit.
