Sunday afternoon, Northfield Mount Hermon 2013 guard, Sam Donahue decided he would accept a walk-on role at Boston College.
This news was announced by head coach John Carroll on Twitter.
"It's been his dream school for a long time," said Carroll over the phone Monday morning. "He visited a few times, most recently, he was at the game on Sunday."
"He didn't care about any of the offers coming his way, he was so focued on B.C."
Last season, the 6-foot-1 Donahue transferred to NMH from Stonington High School (Conn.). Donahue shot lights out, tying a school record with 96 three-pointers on the season.
According to Carroll, B.C. head coach Steve Donahue has seen Sam play half a dozen times, in each occassion, Sam has shot the ball very well.
Although Donahue is taking a walk-on spot, Carroll sees him as someone who can earn minutes as the years go on. Carroll admitted that he wasn't expecting much of Donahue last season, before the sharp-shooter became a key part of the NEPSAC championship team.
"He has the experience of not having playing time in front of him and he doesn't care he just earns it," said Carroll.
Small forward Garland Owens (Massanutten Military Academy/Gaithersburg, MD) has also committed to B.C. for next season.
