Sean Obi picks Rice

Less than a week after visiting Rice, Greens Farms Academy 2013 big man Sean Obi announced that he had committed and signed his National Letter of Intent with the Owls.

This news came on Wednesday from New England Recruiting Report's Adam Finkelstein

“Rice is such a wonderful school and everyone has been so supportive. I am looking forward to playing for Rice," said Obi in a press release from Rice

The 6-foot-9 Obi transferred to Greens Farms in 2010 from Nigeria. He told Finkelstein during the Elite 75 in June that several Ivy League schools, as well as Stanford, Wake Forest, Virginia, and Tulane were interested in him.

However, Obi was impressive in July as part of a talented CBC-Donnelly frontline alongside Paschal Chukwu. The two big men showed great upside during the Hall of Fame National Invitational Tournament in the middle of July.

“Sean is a tremendous presence in the post. He is an exceptional rebounder and consummate team player," said Rice head coach Ben Braun in the release. "He is also an outstanding young man and excellent student who will greatly impact our program.”
