HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Northfield Mount Hermon 2013 forward Skyler White had himself a solid game Friday night in a win against ALMA Academy. White put in 14 points - off the bench - to lead NMH past ALMA 76-64 on Day 2 of the BasketBull Hoops Fest at Holyoke Community College.
The 6-foot-8 forward from Seattle, Wash. has created some noise in the recruiting scene. As of now, White has a whole list of offers from across the nation. Some of the schools are George Washington, Utah, Idaho, Penn State, Oral Roberts, and Jacksonville. He is soon to be visiting San Diego as well. White has no top schools right now; he is just getting himself into the whole process.
In Friday's win against ALMA, White worked hard on the glass against ALMA, to help give his team a big advantage in that department. He also stepped out and connected once from downtown. The stretch forward provides a scoring lift for NMH off the bench, but feels he could improve in some areas.
“I need to work more on my inside game. Getting to the rim and finishing better is something I definitely want to improve on,” said White.
Northfield Mount Hermon had the lead for the majority game. White had some great inside plays, including a slam dunk.
As for team, Josh Hearlihy, the recruiting process is also picking up momentum. The 6-foot-7 point forward had Boston College sitting in the stands during Friday night. Following the win he told NEHoopNews.com Pittsburgh and Maryland have also expressed in. Elon and Charlotte are also showing interest, while Old Dominion has offered. The Vannuys, Calif. native said he does't plan on any visits while back on back on the west coast during the upcoming break.
