HOLYOKE, Mass. -- One of the surprises from the BasketBull Hoops Fest was Cheshire Academy 2013 forward/center Erik Suder. During the four-day event, in which Cheshire played three games in two days, Suder played well enough to earn a All-Tournament Honorable Mention selection.
The 6-foot-8 big for Cheshire, had himself a solid performance against ALMA Academy (Can.) The senior helped Cheshire with 19 points in their overtime loss.
In the loss against ALMA, Suder's level of play picked up as the game went on, which is even more impressive given it was the second game Cheshire had played on the day. Suder had to battle on the block earlier in the day against the likes of Darryl Reynolds in a loss to Worcester.
His post moves were solid and he was aggressive on the block, something he's been working on in practice and on his own.
“We have been working on post moves as a team and in individual workouts,” said Suder following the loss to ALMA.
On the recruiting front, he is currently being looked at by a number of schools. The long list of schools includes Division II schools such Lynn University, University of Tampa, University of District Columbia. Division III schools such as Western New England University, Endicott College and St. Lawrence are also in the mix
Suder has not made any visits to schools, but intends to do so very soon.
