Another Brewster Academy player came off the boards Wednesday afternoon.

Robert Champion, the 2013 shooting guard, will stay in New England for college, as the 6-foot-5 wing committed to Holy Cross. Champion made the announcement through his own Twitter account just after 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Officially committed to College of the Holy Cross," tweeted Champion. "So excited to be a crusader and thanks to everyone who has helped me out along the way."

Champion joined Brewster this fall for a post grad year, following a career at Charlotte Catholic High School (N.C.). The North Carolina native wanted to get more exposure, with only limited Division I interest coming out of high school, he told NEHoopNews during the Hall of Fame Spring Classic in May.

Coming out of high school, Champion had interest from Army, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Davidson, and Air Force. And according to ESPN Recruiting, Brown, New Hampshire, Boston University, American, Furman, and Bucknell were also expressing interest.

The northeast got is first glimpse of Champion this summer when he ran with the New England Playaz 17u team. The North Carolina native showed off a great shooter stroke with an underrated passing ability.

In the prep season, he's been a contributor to a Bobcat team filled with high Division I talent. So far this season, John Edwards (New Hampshire), Kyle Washington (N.C. State), Chris McCullough and Ron Patterson (Syracuse) have also made their college choices. Elijah Macon (West Virginia) had made his decision prior to the fall.

Champion joins a deep Crusader recruiting class, which includes small forwards Riley Criswell (Carrollton High/Carrollton, GA) and Malachi Alexander (Eleanor Roosevelt High/Bowie, MD), as well as center Matt Husek (Bethlehem Catholic High/Stewartsville, NJ) and point guard Anthony Thompson (Bullis School/Potomac, MD).

Holy Cross is currently 8-7 heading into Patriot League play.
